Upper Street is the place to be if you’re in the mood to get out. With restaurants, bars and quirky house wares stores attracting fashionistas from all over London, There is loads to do and it’s a highly desirable area to live in for a lot of people relocating to the City. Camden Passage Market, a local crowd pleaser in Islington, has a wide array of tent sellers, vending the likes of great antiques and knick knacks at reasonable prices – jewelry, books, candlesticks, door-knockers, teacups, toys, statuettes, dining appliances, and much more. Aside from the market, Camden Passage has lots of great shops and restaurants to enjoy, with a laid back atmosphere. Even if you aren’t looking to buy, taking a stroll through the market on a lazy Sunday is a great free activity to get out and do something.
Whistles, an upscale clothing store for men and women, is centrally located on Upper Street; making it easier to access. With sophisticated high-end clothing, this is the shop where many of the locals come to purchase all of their business attire and cocktail shirts and dresses. While the clothing doesn’t come cheap, the quality is always top notch and can reliably last you for years to come.

Islington Green, an oasis amongst the bustling streets, is a perfect spot to enjoy a takeaway lunch from one of the various surrounding cafes and shops, or a lovely place to sit and spend time with friends. There is a convenient coffee stand located on the Green, making it a nice spot to enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee before heading to work, or having a nice tea break and a sit after a long day. Islington Green is a small but perfectly formed little area directly in the middle of Islington at the meeting point between Essex Road and Upper Street. While technically still part of the City, this calming square lets you get a few moments to rest and find solace in this green space.
Barnard Park, another tranquil local hang out, is a luscious well-tended plot of land amidst the hustle and bustle of London’s center. Numerous residents bring their dogs here to let out some energy and let off the leash to run and play; seeing as the area is fenced in. With the grass always mowed, this is a nice area to come to sit outside and enjoy the day.
Highbury & Islington is connected by the Underground. There are ten tube stops near the Islington area including Angel, Farringdon, and Arsenal. Served by the Victoria line, the London Overground’s East, North London Lines, and Great Northern’s Northern City Line operate there.
