There is no way not to be in the spirit of the season inside Westminster Abbey at Christmastime.  This year’s choir concert is a mix of the tried and true carols and readings.  The Choir of Westminster Abbey will perform to sounds of the harp, the organ, and other sounds of the season.  To hear the stellar voices echo inside this revered church is sure to stay with you long after the performances. Beginning today through Christmas Eve the Royal Albert and Victoria Hall will be holding Christmas concerts that are sure to entertain.  With the orchestra, and the sexy Santa version of the Rockettes the performers are a musical representation of the Christmas Season.  Of special note is the Christmas Carol Singalong with Jonathan Cohen, and the 500 person choir performing Messiah, as well as the traditional Carols by Cadlelight where performers are dressed in 18th century holiday wear singing to the sounds of Mozart Festival Orchestra.

Through December 28th this famous landmark has a sing along of Christmas Carols on Saturday the 17th, traditional Christmas Carol Services on the 23rd and 24th December, and Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. While these performances are free it’s best to arrive a couple hours early to guarantee your best seating options.

In its 10th year of performing Christmas favorites, these angelic voices are not to be missed. This year’s snowman host is Aled Jones who has arranged pieces by the Downtown Abbey’s Penelope Wilton, one of the most famed pianists in Joe Stilgoe, and Danielle de Niese the opera star.  All the money raised will go to children’s charity that aids in transforming the lives of underprivileged kids through participation in the fine arts.  Adult tickets are £24.00.

Performances run through the 2nd of January which will delight you with the sounds of traditional x-mas caroling, opera, even Baroque music.   Located right in Trafalgar Square the church is a backdrop to what has become an iconic shot of the tree given to London every year by the Norwegian government.  Titled “Christmas Delights” sometimes a name says it best.

Canary Wharf hosts the show Christmas at Boisdale daily through the end of the year.  The dinner theater performances are a nice change of pace and a great activity the entire family can enjoy down in the Docklands.  Of special note is the New Year’s Eve Soul Spectacular featuring the rhythmic sounds of Motown Supremacy.  Tickets vary in prices so check with Boisdale for pricing specifics.

The 21st of December the London Symphony Orchestra will be performing their Christmas show at Barbican Hall.  The show will feature the London Symphony Orchestras String Ensemble and Choirs. Tickets are anywhere from £10 to £30 for the performance.

Demelza Carol Concert on Sunday the 18th of December where attendees will take part in a special celebration of Christmas at the Old Naval College Chapel in Greenwich.  Ticket prices to be announced, check the ORNC for updates on the performance.

On the 19th of December the transatlantic songwriting duo of Anderson and Petty are performing with the West End performers with all new holiday songs intermixed with songs from “You Are Home”.  Proceeds from the £20 show benefit TheatreMAD (Make A Difference Trust).  On the 20th of December you can catch Peter Straker BREL Unplugged, Uncorked, and Rebottled, tickets start at £15.  You may remember Straker from the famed Spiegeltent and the Edinburgh Festival.

Don’t miss tonight’s performance of Christmas Carols by the members of the Canary Wharf Community Choir.  This performance is a special service for those working in and around Canary Wharf and their families.  Proceeds from the event will go towards the support of the local project in Tower Hamlets run by the Samaritans and the International Charity of MQ.
