No December would be complete without a review of the biggest holiday attraction in The City; Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland. Perhaps it’s the best time to see this fun-filled attraction after Christmas when the lines are less and the fun still at its peak. This year is the Park’s 10th year celebrating Winter Wonderland, and there are new attractions this year that shows that London is bent on improving year after year for its residents. But it’s a good idea to book ahead for the main attractions as you want to reserve your seat and get the guarantee that you get the date and time that suits you best. What’s more, pre-booked tickets get fast-tracked entry into the events, so shorten your time waiting your turn.
So you already know that Winter Wonderland has great ice skating on the largest rink and the most magical outdoor ice rink in the UK, but this year the ice has something more to offer; The Magical Ice Kingdom! A real Arctic Adventure you enter the Magical Ice Kingdom and embark on an adventure in a world constructed of real ice and snow. Also, new this year, Winter Wonderland is presenting The Nutcracker on Ice, which is an hour long program worth catching if you want to leave the skating to the professionals and sit back and enjoy the show.
Don’t forget to grab a pint at the coldest bar in town; The Bar Ice, the sub-zero environment where tables and chairs and even your glass are carved out of ice, it’s a real treat. And don’t worry that you’ll be too cold as you enter you receive a winter cloak and gloves to keep your warm. Shows are the perfect length for kids at just 45 minutes so you won’t have the tykes getting restless. Inside the tent dubbed “Mega Dome” is a heated environment, so it’s a good idea to put this show in the middle of your Hyde Park night or afternoon in order to get in from the cold.
This year Cirque Berserk is back where the ride multiple motorcycles in the steel barred cage. This year’s show is named “Legend” and includes four motorcyclists in the cage at one time; truly amazing! These daredevils are death defying and put on a show worth seeing.
