They are definitely never, ever called ‘cops’ they are however, sometimes called coppers, and when you get arrested you are ‘copped’ and taken to the ‘nick’ (jail)! An interesting aspect of the police force in England, that sets them apart from the rest of the world, is the fact that they are not armed. Only a few divisions of the police force are allowed to use weapons during a situation that demands it.

Of course, while you are living her you need to keep your eyes open. There are pickpockets and bag snatchers that operate in large crowds of people. So if you are getting out of your new rental and visiting some of the tourist attractions, keep your camera out of sight when you’re on the underground. Keep your mobile phone safe and never leave your bag on the back of your chair in a crowded restaurant.
